Lindy Hop

The Lindy Hop is a dance that grew out of the American Jazz movement and became popular in the dance halls of New York in the 1920's. Lindy Hop saw a revival on both coasts in the 1980's when Steven Mitchell found Frankie Manning, one of the pioneers of the dance, and persuaded him to become involved in teaching again. In 1999, dancers in Dallas created the Dallas Swing Dance Society, a non-profit organization dedicated the preservation of and education about Lindy Hop and related dance forms.
