Steven D. Balsley (PhD 1994) is a postdoctoral employee in the Geochemistry Department at Sandia National Labs in New Mexico. His research interests include oxygen isotope variations in natural waters and minerals, experimental weathering rates of minerals and implications thereof to global climate fluctuations, sorption mechanisms of anionic radionuclide complexes onto metal sulfide surfaces, and paleomagnetism and geochronology of pyroclastic rocks from Colorado and New Mexico. He and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Albuquerque and are expecting their first child in March.
