David's Personal Stuff

I work at Southern Methodist University in the Department of Geological Sciences where I am a systems analyst and director of the Geophysical Imaging Laboratory. I also am interested in building robots and writing music and star gazing and here's a link to my weblog

I am married to a professional opera singer, the multi-talented Barbara Nell Hodges (Bunny) who also makes jewelery and stained glass windows and does custom tiling and sings with the Dallas Opera (for the past 30 years). You can see some of her angel pins and broaches here

Barbara Nell Hodges

Bunny serves as the AGMA union steward for the opera chorus, and as one of the founding board members of the Denton affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, which will complete its 37th home this year. She is director of the "Ruth's Room" re-sale store, which funds the Denton chapter, and which she founded in memory of her mother. We have two sons, Stephen and Jonathan.

Stephen Gregory Hodges Anderson, OS3

Stephen earned his Eagle Scout and graduated High School in 2000. He served for 4 years in the U.S. Navy as Operations Specialist C/3 on the USS Cleveland. After completing his service Stephen worked out of Dutch Harbor, Alaska on a fishing boat for the summer, harvested cotton in west Texas, and worked as an electrician's assistant, while earning his qualifications as an Able Bodied Seaman for the Merchant Marine. He now works in the maritime transportation industry, supplying offshore oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Stephen is also a writer, musician, and singer with a keen interest in folk music and sea chanties, and a strong bass voice.

Jonathan Michael Hodges Anderson

Jonathan is a junior in college, majoring in percussion and music composition at the University of North Texas, (with great 4-mallet marimba technique!) who played quads (2.0M mpg) in the Ryan High School Marching Band Drum Line from 1999-2003. (Since that time he's gotten a lot better (28 M mpg)) Jonathan is a gifted composer with five CDs to his credit; the first written when he was 12 years old. Jonathan was a member of the Surround Sound Percussion ensemble in 2003 and 2004, and marched quads with Carolina Crown drum and bugle corps for Drum Corps International in 2005. Jonathan also played quads this year with the world famous University of North Texas Indoor Drumline.

Here is a link to some audio and video of his drumline performances, including the killer 2005 Percussive Arts Society International Convention concert, and new piece for marimba performed by Danny Hawkins. Jonathan has also posted some of his compositions online at http://myspace.com/jonaandersonmusic

Here are my boys some years ago on their mini-bikes. We restored the red and blue Honda, which is nowadays considered an antique, in our home machine shop.

We traveled to Alaska in 2001, which I documented as a combination pleasure/research venture for the Institute for the Study of Earth and Man (ISEM) at Southern Methodist University.
